Heavenly Father, I approach You in the name of Jesus Christ.
My confidence is not in the volume of my voice, my emotions, or a special formula.
My confidence is in Jesus, His finished work, and the truth of Your Word.
I submit myself to You before I resist evil.
James 4:7 instructs me: “Submit yourselves, then, to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (NIV).
I submit my mind, body, home, relationships, decisions, possessions, and future to You.
I reject sin, fear, hatred, superstition, and every practice that contradicts Your Word.
When I use the words bind, sever, cast out, and fire, I speak against evil works, sinful influences, deception, fear, and spiritual darkness.
I do not pronounce injury, sickness, death, or literal fire upon another human being.
My struggle is not against flesh and blood, according to Ephesians 6:12.
I put on the full armor of God.
Truth surrounds me.
Righteousness guards my heart.
The gospel of peace directs my steps.
Faith becomes my shield.
Salvation protects my mind.
God’s Word is my sword.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
What does the prayer “Before I Pray for Protection” mean?
This is the prayer you pray before the other protection prayers. It settles where the authority actually comes from — Jesus, not intensity, wording, or ceremony — and it submits first, then resists. It also defines the warfare language honestly: you are speaking against evil works and deception, never calling harm down on a person.
How do I apply “Before I Pray for Protection” to my own life?
Pray this once before any other protection prayer instead of jumping straight to declarations. Name one specific area — phone, finances, a relationship, your schedule — and submit it out loud before you resist anything. Check your language: if a prayer starts aiming at a person rather than at evil works, stop and rephrase it. Read Ephesians 6:10–18 slowly and name each piece of armor as your own.
What Bible verse goes with this protection prayer?
“Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” — James 4:7 (NIV) Read the verse slowly before and after praying so the words shape how you pray rather than only how you feel.
Can I pray this prayer every day?
Yes. These daily prayers are free to read, print, or share, and repeating one for a week often does more than reading a new one each day. Praying the same scripture repeatedly helps it settle into how you think and respond.
