Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I come to You carrying a loss I did not choose.
Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (NIV).
I need You close, because my spirit feels crushed.
I miss them.
I miss their voice, their presence, the ordinary moments I did not know I was storing up.
I bring that missing to You instead of burying it.
You know every tear I have cried and every one I have swallowed.
Psalm 56:8 tells me You keep record of my sorrows.
Nothing about this grief is wasted or unseen by You.
When the waves come without warning — in the grocery store, in the car, in the middle of a normal day — steady me.
Let me feel it without drowning in it.
Forgive me for the anger I have felt, the questions I have not spoken out loud, and the moments I have doubted Your goodness.
You are not afraid of my honesty.
Meet me in it.
1 Thessalonians 4:13 says I do not grieve like those who have no hope.

Because of the resurrection of Jesus, death is not the final word over anyone who belongs to You.

Give me strength for the practical things — the paperwork, the belongings, the empty chair, the first holiday.
Walk with me through each one.
Teach me how to honor their life without being stuck in the day they left.

Revelation 21:4 promises a day when You will wipe every tear from my eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.
