Before the day makes its demands, let me first be still.

Let the light that reaches this window also reach the corners of my heart.

Steady my hands for whatever I am asked to carry.

Remind me that I do not have to move faster than peace.

That the work of today will meet me — I do not have to chase it.

That my worth is not measured in output, but in presence.

So I begin here: with breath, with quiet, with the small, ordinary hope that today is a gift, and I am welcome inside of it.

Amen.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What does the prayer “A Prayer for the Morning” mean?

This quiet morning prayer invites you to slow down and begin your day in stillness rather than rushing into anxiety. It reminds you that your worth is found in God's gentle presence rather than your daily task list.

How do I apply “A Prayer for the Morning” to my own life?

Spend three minutes sitting quietly with God before reaching for your phone or starting daily tasks. Remind yourself throughout the day that you do not need to rush faster than God's peace. Take a deep breath and offer your daily schedule to God as an act of quiet trust.

What Bible verse goes with this peace prayer?

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10 Read the verse slowly before and after praying so the words shape how you pray rather than only how you feel.

Can I pray this prayer every day?

Yes. These daily prayers are free to read, print, or share, and repeating one for a week often does more than reading a new one each day. Praying the same scripture repeatedly helps it settle into how you think and respond.
